I have this thing about the tops of hats. I think a nice symmetrical decrease can make (or break) the hat. When I saw the top of the Two by Two hat, I knew I had to try it.
I love the way the ribs “disappear” into each other. It was an easy pattern but the deviation from the “knit x, knit 2 together” made the top fun.
While ribbing isn’t my favourite, it does have its advantages for fit (too loose hats are another pet peeve). The yarn is Patons Classic Merino in chocolate from my stash (double score for using stash yarn!)
All in all a very fun, relatively easy knit, operator error excluded. It would look cute with a pompom, but I don’t really think that’s a look my father would go for. 🤷🏼♀️
This hat looks like something your Dad would wear & love! Good job!
