When I woke up this morning, I had no intention of starting a 100 day project. To be honest, I’m not even sure I knew it was a thing. I’d seen hashtags occasionally on Instagram, but I’d never really ventured down the rabbit hole to see what it was about. Just after lunch as I was scrolling through Instagram, there was a post in my feed that it started today. (I can’t even remember who it was that posted it). In that moment, it jumped out at me as something fun I could do.
Basically, for 100 days you create something. If you follow the hashtag on Instagram (#100DayProject) you can see all kinds of beautiful creations and artwork. My contribution is a bit more modest; I’m going to make a granny square a day for 100 days.
For me, I’ve been languishing for a creative project while my list of non-creative things grows. I need to re-find that balance between the two. As we head into a winter of uncertainty with Public Health rules, I’m struggling to not focus on my first winter without a vacation in the sun in 32 years. I’ve been so fortunate to have the opportunity to have that streak of travel. It was always going to be an adjustment when it stopped, but it feels like I need a vacation now more than ever. A distraction, however small, is much needed. Hopefully by the time the 100 days is up on May 10 there will be a more optimistic feel in more than just the weather.
In the meantime, I feel a bit like a kid working on my project to mark the 100th day of school. Day 1 is done:

I’m excited to see your work Bonnie! I too plan on taking on the 100 Days project…but alas, here it is, after 9 pm and our company just left, so I got little done. It’s exciting to be back in Orange Phase, and to see our “Steady 10”, but my, this is cutting into my crafting thing! So, I either start day 1 tomorrow, or aim for 1&2.

Awesome! What are you doing? (The hermit in me does see the advantages to social restrictions) 🙂

As you have seen, I decided on 100 days of mini watercolours…whether it be cardfronts or bookmarks!
